Simeon and Matt have been friends for a very long time . In the nineties, when Simeon was a manager for Shimano he gave Matt Hayes a job as a advisor and began Matt’s presenting career that would see him hit the top of the TV angling tree with shows like Total Fishing using ingenious devices like the smartcast fishfinder or sitting behind his bite alarms
When Matt it was time to produce his own fishing tackle range in the form of TFGear he did not think twice about persuading Simeon to join him and hence Matt Hayes fishing tackle was born TFG

Matt Hayes was determined that this would not happen with Total Fishing Gear so each and evey item that makes it to the TFG gear range has been thouroughly tested by Matt or other top anglers who are experts in their field; the match rods, for example, wheretested by a leading fishing team; the carp blanks have been used and abused by mad carp anglers and, obviously, Matt Hayes has put all of the fishing rod blanks through their paces and personally handled several of the developments.

After all the rigorous tests for action and performance, every fishing tackle item is minutely examined to establish whether major or minor improvements that may boost its performance.
