Phones – More Than Just a Means of Communication
Phones are such a fantastic way to catch up on news to someone, it is inconceiveable how we lived without them.
Gone are the days when the humble telephone would be available to the general public as a one style suits all. Currently telephones are available in a variety of sizes, colours and materials, colours and ringtones. They are even available as novelty phones too.
Novelty phones are a chic way to speak with your friends but also imprinting your personality on your novelty phone to make it more fun. The ringtones differ from old style telephones through the years from the 1920s right through to the 1950s like a diner phone. Maybe those Granny and Grandad’s may remember the old standard finger dialling phone in the colors of – bright reds or blue. As years passed by the vogue was the Trim phone with it is novel ringer.
As the time elasped, the finger dialling phones were taken over by the new push button phones. These succeeded the dialling phones. Later arrived the cordless phone. These phones meant not having to actually chat without standing or sitting by the phone socket. This meant you could talk in any place you liked. Telephones advanced to being wall mounted not just sat on a table top. The materials varied from wood to plastic. It became trendy to buy and own a telephone to the point that phones were being located in many rooms of the house.
Children now own character phones that were similar to their coolist Disney character such as Donald Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Pluto, the list is neverending.
Young lads love their boy toys gadgets and really enjoyed the Star Wars characters such as R2D2 or Darth Vader. Even Dads have got in on the act by purchasing a phone in the fashion of a golf buggy, car or Dr Who Tardis. Mums, so not to be left out have their own individual favourites too like a red stiletto shoe or a pair of red lips.
The idea of novelty has also found its way in other areas over the years such as novelty salt and pepper grinders of which there are numerous designs and many of them very collectable.
All these phones still have a fundamental need in common and that is communication, but it is now not the case that one style suits all. Everyone has a different personality and everyone likes to have something that is a little unique from others showing their own individual style and flair.
